Papers are to be in English on A4 paper in 12pt Times New Roman font. The paper is to be prepared using an A4 (210 mm X 297 mm) size paper and typed with a margin of 50 mm on top and bottom sides and 40 mm on left and right sides.

 

(The paper title should be typed in bold face, centered and placed 75 mm from the top of the first page. The paper title should not be underlined. The name(s), affiliation(s), and addresses should be centered around the page. The name of presenting author should be underlined. The first character of every word in the title block should be in capital letter.)

Abstract

 

This document contains guidelines for preparation of full papers for the Chemical Engineers Congress, CHEMCON 2008. It defines the layout and formatting of papers, dates for submission by authors and return dates from the Scientific Secretariat with comments. The name and contact details of the author are to be clearly indicated in a covering letter. The first page includes the congress headline, the title, name and contact details of the author, keywords and abstract. The abstract must not go over into the 2nd page and must not be more than 500 words. The abstract is to indicate the subject of the paper, how the author proposes to develop the subject and its overall objective, aim or outcome. Abstracts will be reviewed in terms of relevance to the Congress, its purpose, scope and themes and the potential contribution to knowledge. Authors are to indicate into which of the themes as specified in the brochure, their paper would best fit in. The last date for submission of abstracts is May 10, 2008.

Headings and Sub-headings

All section headings should be aligned to the left and in bold faced capital letters. All headings should be preceded by a blank line. Body texts are to be full justified. First Sub-headings should be aligned to the left of the column and bold faced. The first character in each word in the sub-heading should be in capital letters. The text should continue in the next line. Second set of sub-headings (They are within the first set of sub-headings) should be aligned to the left of the column and be in italics. No blank lines are required and text should continue in the next line.

 

Tables and Figures

Tables and Figures should be centered, numbered consecutively and referred to in the text as Table 1 and Fig. 1.

Allow at least 1 line space below figure description and text and 1 line space above table description and text.

Equations

Equations should be numbered consecutively in parentheses flush with the right margin All symbols must be defined in the body of the text. Reference to the equations should be in the form Equation (2). Use the International System of units (SI) in your paper.

Length of paper

The final paper should be: 6 to 8 pages (including first page and references), in the prescribed font and letter sizes and using the correct typing area per page as in this template.

 

Abbreviations and Acronyms

Define the less commonly known abbreviations and acronyms the first time they appear in the body of the text, even if they have been defined in the abstract. Do not use abbreviations in the paper title and figure captions.

 

Conclusions

Every paper should have conclusions. Use this section wisely to summarize that is presented in your paper. Conclusions should be limited to 200 words.

 

Acknowledgements

If appropriate (eg. The input of previous congress organizers is gratefully acknowledged.)

 

Citations

References cited in the text should be indicated by consecutive numbers in parentheses [1,2,3] on the same line as the text and the full source information listed under the heading ‘References’ at end of paper. Examples given below: for articles in journals [1 & 2], conference proceedings [3] for books [4] and a website reference [5] with the date accessed in parentheses after the website.

References should be cited in the text by the last name(s) of the author(s) followed by the year of publication in parentheses. The references should be arranged alphabetically under the section “REFERENCES” as:
